It is a big day today.

We spend half a day at Frank LLoyd Wright’s famous Fallingwater. In the afternoon we visit nearby another FLW property at Kentuck Knob.

Fallingwater is a house designed in 1935 by renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) for the Kaufmann family, owners of Pittsburgh’s largest department store. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater is one of his most widely acclaimed works and best exemplifies his philosophy of organic architecture: the harmonious union of art and nature.

Kentuck Knob is both dramatic and serene…the house, situated just below the crest of the hill, appears almost part of the mountain itself and stands 2,050 feet above sea level. Cantilevered overhangs and great expanses of glass effortlessly integrate the inside with the outside. Wright adapted his philosophy of organic architecture to a modern world and called this style ‘Usonian’. Designed on a hexagonal module, Kentuck Knob is a 2,200 sq. ft. Grand Usonian home.
